MUSIC

Sumkind: This LA-based electronic musician plays keyboard and guitar while singing supported by heavy sub, grimy bass, and hard drums encapsulated by a world of abstract atmospheric soundscapes. The performance and production alike combine the live improvisational energy of a traditional band with the spectral range and power of a DJ set.

//

Peter Su: If The Beach Boys got together with Leonard Cohen to harmonize over some sweet melodies, you’d get an artist like Peter Su. Before he was a songwriter in LA, Peter used to be a venture capitalist on Sand Hill, investing in startups in the daytime and playing music at night. A few years ago, he realized how blindly ambitious he’d been and left the 9-to-5 path to pursue his lifelong dream to make good, loving music for people, no matter where it led. These days, he spends most of his time songwriting and making people’s days a little more joyful as a street performer on the Santa Monica Pier. This year he went into Sunset Sound to record his debut album “Into the Sea”, a song cycle about his search for his true calling, to be released this January. Besides the pier, you can peep Peter on instagram @petersumusic or find him performing around LA singer-songwriter venues like Room 5 and featuring at festivals such as 626 Night Market.

Paper Chains: Diamonds and Jonny formed Paper Chains after relocating from Brooklyn, New York to Los Angeles in 2014. Mixing Art, Fashion and Rock n’ Roll, they draw from their diverse backgrounds into an exciting multimedia experience. Stereo Diamonds’ sexy but smart vocals cut through battling guitars and synths over driving dance rock beats. This wall of sound is created live, without pre-recorded tracks giving the band freedom to push musical boundaries at any time. Paper Chains are currently playing shows along the west coast and recording an EP to be released Independently this fall.

//

Phair_by phatTHIGHz: This LA-based electronic producer/beat maker is in charge of every aspect of her compositions. Using crunchy distortion, crisp high hats, glitched synth lines, samples pulled from public service announcements from the 1950’s, and screwed vocals, the visual translation of Phair’s sets would most likely look like pastel pink liquid melting, combined with color static from a glitched television.

//

Coals: Owen Cole, a 22-year-old Angeleno went to school in Boston where he began studying sound and slowly found the way in which he wants to utilize it. Coals will be releasing a feature-length record in the spring that is heavily influenced from everything like ambient pieces to “chopped n’screwed” tones. Expect to hear some of his sounds along with remixes and tracks from friends and artists that inspire him. There is no guaranteed direction, just simple fun.

DYSRUPTCheck out the beats by Sean Sullivan, a dark and dirty DnB DJ since 1996 and working as DnB production since 2010.

OUR FAVORITE BOOMTOWN BREWERY BEERS!
Limelight IPA (7% ABV): This classic robust IPA is made with a blend of Citra, Amarillo, and Mosaic hops. It has hoppy notes of guava, stone fruit, and grapefruit that are balanced with malty caramel tones and a solid, yet clean bitterness. The Limelight IPA is a big beer with big flavor.

Nosejob IPA (6.8%): A West Coast classic, this IPA is deep gold in color and brimming with a mix of citrus, tropical fruit, and piney hoppiness. The nose is a blend of sweet citrus mixed with deep fruity notes. The Nosejob IPA is hoppy up front, but finishes with a nice balance of light malt sweetness and a clean solid bittering.

Ingenue Belgian White Ale (4.8% ABV): This blonde ale is inspired by working-class ales of Hainaut, Belgium. It is a white beer made of Belgian pilsner malt, white winter wheat, rolled oats, and lightly hopped with imported Czech Saaz (which is a “noble” variety of hops named after the Czech city of Žatec, which in German is Saaz). It is then brewed with extremely soft water to create a feeling in your mouth that matches the effects of the oats. The Ingenue is full of sweet bready notes with a nice creamy body, yet it finishes clean and dry.
